John Mitchell Kemble
John Mitchell Kemble (ur. 2 kwietnia 1807 r. w Londynie; zm. 26 marca 1857 r. w Dublinie) - angielski germanista i filolog.

Życiorys
Kembel studiował w Cambridge, kontynuował studia w Getyndze m.in. u Jacoba Grimma (1785-1863). W 1834 r. prowadził wykłady na uniwersytecie Cambridge o anglosaskiej literaturze, które zostały wydrukowane w jego książce » First history of the English language« (1834).
W 1836 r. ożenił się z córką Johanna Amadeusa Wendta, profesora uniwersytetu w Getyndze, z którą miał dwie córki i syna. Małżeństwo niestety było nieszczęśliwe i w 1848 r. nastąpił rozwód.
Od 1845 r. był członkiem korespondencyjnym Pruskiej Akademii Nauk.
