Frédéric Soret

Frédéric Jacob Soret także Friedrich Jacob Soret (ur. 12 maja 1795 w Sankt Petersburgu; zm. 18 grudnia 1865 w Plainpalais koło Genewy) – szwajcarski uczony i numizmatyk. (wyznanie ewangelicko–reformowane)

Genealogia

Ojciec Nicolas, do 1800 nadworny malarz carycy Katarzyny II; matka Jeanne Louise Duval; – ożenił się w 1836 z Elisabeth Bertheau, córką Jean-Alexandra.

Życiorys

Frédéric Soret studiował od 1811 r. teologię w Genewie, w 1819 uzyskał tytuł doktora i od jesieni 1819 do 1820 r. studiował mineralogię w Paryżu. W latach 1822–36 był w Weimarze nauczycielem księcia Saksonii Karla Alexandra (1818–1901). W tym czasie zaprzyjaźnił się z Johannem Wolfgangiem von Goethe (1749–1832). Przyjaźnił się także z Rodolphem Töpfferem (1799–1846). Po powrocie do Genewy zasiadał w latach 1836–41 w radzie miasta, w 1842 i 1844 był członkiem Wielkiej Rady.
